   On 26 February 2005 I succeeded in culturing the Norwalk virus              
in a cell culture on the basis of many years of experience in a                  
virus isolation laboratory.                                                                       

  To this end, 2 Norwalk-positive patient material specimens were placed   
on cell cultures. The virus-induced cytopathic effect (CPE) was rendered
microscopically visible.

 Real-time PCR results confirmed infection of these cells.                          

 The NV infection was transmitted to previously uninfected cells                
whit the acellular culture supernatants of the virus-positive cultures,         
confirming virus release into the cell culture supernatant.
